How do you measure a year? In Daylights – In Sunsets – In Midnights – In Glasses of Wine In Inches – In Miles – In Laughter – In Strife

Orin Swift’s latest Locations wine, “I” has arrived! “I” is David Phinney’s latest red blend from Italy. Like he has done for all of his Locations wines- Phinney scoured the chosen country for the best grapes from the best locales and made a crowd pleasing, easy drinking blend. “I” is advertised as a blend of Negroamoro, Nero d’Avola, Barbera and native varietals of Puglia. It is a deep scarlet color with aromas of dried lavender and toasted oak. It is bursting with flavors of ripe dark fruit, a hint of spice box and just the right amount of acidity. This wine has been barrel aged for 10 months giving it velvety soft tannins. The Orin Swift website describes “I” as “a vibrant wine that captures the spirit of Italy with a touch of new world bravado.” Come enjoy this new wine, located on our Orin Swift rack, for $18.99. A Simpler Approach to Wine…
is an advice column, of sorts, by James Laube, senior editor of Wine Spectator appearing in their May 31 edition. Laube points out that as wine consumers we are living in an embarrassment of riches- the world is awash in great juice from various regions and varietals! This, in itself though, is a double edged sword as all the options can be overwhelming. We found this article to be indicative of our mission at the Wine Merchant; to de-mystify the wine drinking experience. Laube offers 5 points for all wine drinkers, novice or sophisticated, to ponder as they drink their way around the world of wine. Read more
