News 🗞
The time has finally come, Beaujolais Nouveau 2024, tomorrow (Thursday). If you are unfamiliar with Beaujolais Nouveau, it is the release of the year's first wines, so that would mean the grapes picked back in September that have been aged for a couple of months and are now ready to drink. The release is celebrated all over the world. Not as much as it used to be... but we're not giving up on it anytime soon. Join us all day on Thursday as we serve up Beef Bourguignon (that I started cooking on Monday), Pissaladière, Triple Crème Brie, and Macarons. Not to mention wine flights of the Beaujolais Nouveau wines! Practice your French, don your berets, and get hungry and thirsty. We'll start serving around 11-11:30, as soon as we can get everything ready and warmed up. And since we're just gluttons for punishment, we will also have a food special on Saturday... Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. That old classic that you can just never get enough of. The weather looks perfect for a meal such as that, all day 10a-8p while supplies last. Well okay maybe 11... have to warm that soup up too.
Wine Feature & Pick ⭐️
Why it's all of the Beaujolais Nouveaux, of course. Did you expect anything different? These are young, fresh wines, leaning towards dry but very fruity and enjoyed by many, especially around the Thanksgiving table. They come from the region of Beaujolais in France, which is the very southern part of Burgundy. The grape is Gamay, which is a light-bodied red grape similar to Pinot Noir, its cousin to the north. I read somewhere, "If you’re one of the few who actually stops to smell the neighbor's flowers, or breathes in deeply when you’re in a forested area then you are the ideal drinking candidate for Gamay." I like that. You can find aged, high-quality Gamays at all price points, but we're focused on the brand new ones, the Beaujolais Nouveaux. We have 10 varities from 8 winemakers, each similar but with with its differences to make it unique. They are all priced between $15 and $21, and if you don't know which one to buy and don't have time to taste them yourself, have no fear... we have tasted them all and are ready to pass along our wisdom.
