This Week’s Tastings Beers from Comstock, Michigan and Asheville, North Carolina this week for beer tasting, we’ll start with “The Prairie-Grass Dividing” from Bell’s. For number two we’ll sip from Hi-Wire their Rose’ and in staying with the North Carolina selections number three will be Hop Circus a “Dank and Citrusy” brew. To finish things off we’ll go back to Michigan for the iconic Kalamazoo Stout. Certainly a few to choose from this week, hope to seed you Saturday!

Feature Item Jim Clendenen‘s Au Bon Climat 2014 “Knox Alexander” Pinot Noir is this week’s feature. Always one of my favorites, while we don’t have many of these bottles we have a few at $59.99 that will be sure to please. Named after Jim Clendenen’s son Knox, this wine is from the finest lots of Pinot Noir from the estate Le Bon Climat and Bien Nacido Vineyard since 1998. These two vineyards, separated only by the Sisquoc River, have slow growing vines planted in well-drained poor soils, which produce really distinctive Pinot Noir. Both vineyards struggle to yield much most years, but the small amount that is harvested is of amazing quality. This Pinot Noir is “bright, focused and beautifully delineated. A layered wine of intense aromatics, precision and focus that exudes energy from start to finish. The 2014 is striking. It's as simple as that.” Jim is one of my all time favorite wine makers and maybe after purchasing one of these you will understand why!

Dan's Pick It’s got to be Domaine de Maubet 2018, this wine has been a huge hit for our customers so I decided to bring in plenty and choose it as my pick! This $10.99 refreshing bottle is just what we all need for summer weather, “Intensely herbal and green, this wine is as crisp as possible. It's also attractively perfumed from the Gros Manseng in the blend that is dominated by Colombard and Ugni Blanc. The wine is brightly fruity and deliciously crisp and refreshing.” I think these tasting notes say it all, try a few and you’ll soon see why we’ve run out the past two weeks! It’s in stock, all you have to do is chill it down and enjoy…

Final Thought We’re looking forward to sharing some great food specials with you, be it during Shark Week, Car Tunes on Main or our Belgian Beer Lunch. I’ve got the fridges and freezers packed to keep bringing in new and exciting specials and new menu items, keep an eye out for what’s next! We enjoy sharing these foods and we’re looking forward to seeing you all real soon.

Cheers from all of us at the Wine Merchant!
