Beer Tasting
This week’s beer tasting will be from Stone Breweries of California and Hi-Wire from North Carolina. We’ll start things off with Stone’s Enter Night, followed by Stone Never Ending Haze. Both of these beers are sure to please and will certainly wake up your palate when we move onto Hi-Wires lo- pitch juicy IPA and then we’ll finish things off with Hi-Wire Bed of Nails. I mean, what’s not to like, Saturday afternoon, evening four new beers and the conviviality always served up for free…See you Saturday.
Dan’s Feature
Acacia Pinot Noir Carneros, California this bargain just came to my attention yesterday and how could I say no? Besides having had this at a value price once before we are certainly glad to have this back in the store, regularly priced at $24.99, the price is currently$16.99. Tasting notes quite accurately describe this wine as, “combination of smoke, sandalwood, freshly crushed berries, minerals and intricate spice are noted on the nose. The palate reflects the nose, with silken tannins and thrilling acidity, giving shape to the cherry and black raspberry flavors”. While not as friendly a price point as our last value Pinot this one is sure not to be missed.
Dan’s Pick
Match Book Estate Bottled Petit Verdot from Zanora, California is this week’s pick. I have always enjoyed Petit Verdot and have always found it difficult to find and especially at $14.99. Petit Verdot being one of the original Bordeaux varietals and is also a varietal used for blending beautiful California reds is described in tasting notes as, “ a wine that has firm tannins and gives great structure to wines, but ours also shows beautiful aromas of violet and great fruit expression of blueberries. Depth, structure, aroma and flavor- this wine has it all. ” I’ve just always enjoyed it, dark, rich, deep and flavorful, something new for you to try and at this price, why not…
Friday/Saturday Special
It’s a big pizza pie… not normally something you want to get for yourself…Two to choose from this week, all the meats with marinara and mozzarella or our Spicy Feta pizza. Two to choose from, should be simple enough, they will be limited so order early and enjoy…
Final Thought
We’re one week out from Hop Slam hitting the shelves and hopefully our draft line up, our goal is to have it on tap next week!!! Also we are less than a month out for Valentines Day and if you haven’t called for reservations do so soon. Another week closer to Fat Tuesday and I’m already procuring the necessities! It may just be the middle of January but we’re always preparing for what’s up next here at the Wine Merchant, see you soon…
Cheers from all of us here at The Wine Merchant
