WINE NEWS…

We’ve rearranged our front room, taken a good hard look at what we want in the racks and found a few that we are not going to be carrying. So, what does that mean for you??? Wine Sale, 68 bottles, with 13 varietals on sale now for your bargaining pleasure. Stop in and see if there are a few you’d like to take home.

Not a whole bunch new this week, just trying to keep the racks full, however I did restock on all the Sineann bargains that were listed last week.

Dan’s Wine Feature

Sineann 2015 Cabernet Was $32.99 Now $25.99. This Cabernet is from a winery that makes both Washington and Oregon wines. “On the nose, scents of cassis, sandalwood and fresh cut lumber are noted. On the palate, medium tannins, a fair amount of oak, but also plenty of cassis fruit”. This easy drinking Cabernet has a great mark down and we’re very happy to be bringing it to you at this price. If you plan on firing up the grill and having a couple of steaks, here’s your new best friend. We promptly sold out of last week’s stock and were very happy to be able to pick up a few more cases.

Dan’s Wine Pick

Domaine de Tourelles 2017 Red Blend Lebanon $13.99. Tasting notes describe this wine as “a wine with minimal intervention, a true expression of the Bekaa Valley, the juxtaposition of ripe dark fruit against a vibrant juicy core reflects the hot, dry days and cool nights of the valley”. Comprised of equal parts of Cabernet and Syrah with a little Cinsault and Carignan to round it out. I think this is a perfect bottle to pair with BBQ or burgers. It’s easy drinking with good dark fruit making this new Lebanese wine a great expedition for you to take.

FOOD NEWS

Food Feature of the Week

Although we’ve got some great steaks for you down here, I’m picking Salmon for this week. Over the past few months we’ve carried some great food but the one item that has been most consistent is our Salmon. Always Fresh, brought in through one of our purveyors, this Nova Scotia Salmon has become our biggest seller. Cut into 8oz portions or sold as a whole filet, this product has never disappointed. Come on in, pick some up and we will find you a great wine to go with it.

It’s been a busy week here at the Wine Merchant because, while many of you have done your cleaning routine during the crisis, we had not. The front of the store has gone through a deep cleaning in more ways than one, as well as, a complete reorganization. Stop in, say hi and see what we have down here for you.

Please, please continue safe practices and please bring a mask when you come visit us at the store.

Cheers from all of us here at The Wine Merchant
