Okay I toyed with the idea last weekend, but we are actually taking a break from specials this weekend. You'll have to deal with our everyday menu... Fresh Oysters (Pink Moons from PEI this week), elegant Charcuterie, Baked Triple Crème Brie... you know, basic stuff. The good news is we have a few things back in the store that will please many of you: Ahi Tuna cut to order, both Butternut Squash and Veal Ravioli, the organic Villarini wines from Sicily, a couple of Gen 5 wines, our favorite South African Cab, and more. So get in there, see what we've got, and replenish your stores at home while we've got it. And enjoy a glass on the patio while you're at it. It's finally looking good out there. But honestly, just grateful we didn't get hard like those to the south of us.
Wine Feature ⭐️
We're bringing back an old favorite this week, L'Ecole No. 41 2023 Frenchtown Red Wine. I've always been a fan of L'Ecole, and it's been a good while since we've had it in the store. From the Walla Walla region of Columbia Valley, Washington, it's a third-generation, family-owned winery located in an old schoolhouse, hence the winery's name. Their sustainable winemaking philosophy "prioritizes balance, finesse, and purity of fruit, with careful extraction and restrained oak to preserve vineyard character. The result is wines known for structure, natural acidity, and exceptional aging potential." French Canadians settled in the area in the early 1800s and started making wine in the 1860s, and this bottle pays homage to them. Hand-harvested and aged in neutral oak, it consists of 45% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 9% Syrah, 5% Grenache, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, and 1% Mourvèdre. "An excellent Frenchtown vintage showing copious fresh fruit aromas of dark cherry, blueberry, raspberry, and anise complemented by cocoa powder and violet floral notes. This easy-drinking wine offers an abundance of lively fruit, cinnamon sticks, and spice flavors framed by a medium body and finely textured tannins, leading to a harmoniously balanced, juicy, and enduring finish." Grab it for $26.99.
Wine Pick 🥂
We've got a couple of new Greek wines in stock, including the Monemvasia 2025 Voltes Dry White Wine. Monemvasia is the winery but also a namesake small village, founded in the 6th century on the east coast of the Peloponnese peninsula, a picture of which I will include because it's just unreal. Voltes means path in Greek, named after the path to the island which you can see in the photo. Their motto is "a vision to reinstate the unique, albeit lost in time, Monemvasian terroir." That seems about right from what I see. It's a blend of two iconic Greek white wine grapes, Roditis (70%) and Moschofilero (30%). Both pink-skinned grapes native to Greece, Roditis provides the body and the stone fruit while Moschofilero brings acidity and florals to the mix. "Light yellow in color, aromas of freshly cut flowers, green apple, stone fruits, a smooth mouthfeel, pleasant acidity and finish." A new, crisp patio white for $14.99.
