Beer Tasting

For our final tasting in 2019 we’ll go out with a Boom! To begin Saturday we’ll sip a little Pennyfarthing Pilsner from Around the Bend in Illinois. Number two is a collaboration from California’s Alesmith and Beachwood with “Boom Crash” Hopera a tantalizing Australian style Ale. Odd 13 Brewery is next with their “Codename: Holiday Fan” this big 10% Triple IPA will be a true holiday treat. We’ll finish this year’s tasting with a true brew from Scotland with “Harviestoun Old Engine Oil Black Ale”. Seems like a great way to finish off this years beer tasting, hope to see you Saturday!

Dan’s Feature

This week’s feature is Perrier-Jouet “Belle Epoque” Millesime 2011, This special wine comes gift boxed and has two painted crystal flutes. So, if you would like to gift this spectacular Champagne it’s ready to go, or if you want to share this with someone special, it’s also ready to go… Nationally priced at $199.99 a bottle we have it in at $70.00 off at $129.99. This 90+ rated wine is certainly a very special bottle that needs to be shared! The wine maker, “Hervé Deschamps blended this Cuvée to emphasize the unique character of the 2011 vintage. His blend brings out the freshness and elegance of the Chardonnays (50%) from the grand crus of Cramant and Avize. From the Montagne de Reims, the Pinot Noir (45%) display a generosity and delicate complexity that prolong the Chardonnays’ finesse. Finally, the rounded charm of the Pinot Meunier (5%) from Dizy provides the finishing touch to this beautifully balanced cuvee”.

Dan’s Pick

My pick is a bit more on the value side, Laurent Lequart is a grower producer of Champagne and we were lucky enough to get in a suitable amount for the holidays, 100% Pinot Meunier makes this a very tasty Champagne and at an unheard price of $34.99 it’s a steal. So, if you’re on a budget this New Years Eve make sure to pick up a few of these!

Friday/Saturday Special

Meatballs! And yes, we will make more for this Friday and Saturday again in traditional style with marinara and provolone.

Final Thought

This will be the last newsletter for 2019… I hope it’s been a good year for all. We’ve enjoyed having all of you in the store be it shopping, dining, drinking or attending our special events. In 2020 we will be bringing in new beverages, menus and events to share with all. Happy New Years from Chelsea, TJ, both of Meghan & Megan, Tara, Taylor, Mady, Kiyomi, Caleb and of course me… Happy New Years (in advance)…

Cheers from all of us here at The Wine Merchant
