News 🗞

Not to beat a dead horse, but we're over halfway through the Best of Findlay voting time frame -- just about a week left, actually. If you think we're deserving, please take a couple of minutes each day and give us a vote. I thank you in advance. Now, since last weekend was such a success, we're keeping the good times rolling this weekend with another food special, Chicken Pesto Pizzas. You know them, you love them. A Flatbread with a layer of Pesto, juicy Chicken, melty Mozzarella, and partially sun-dried Italian Tomatoes to top it off, an Italian Glass Pour at the bar to go with it. Serving both Friday and Saturday while supplies last. It was a busy weekend last weekend too, so you may have noticed that our Food Coolers were a little sparse, to say the least. Well they're stocked back up to the brim with steaks, salmon, burgers, cheese, shrimp, scallops, crab, and more, so there is hopefully no reason to worry about your dinner table this weekend. There might even be some Coulotte on Friday for those of you who have been asking...

Wine Feature ⭐️

If you are a fisherman or know a fisherman who also enjoys wine, then this one is for you: Collefrisio 2019 In & Out Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, $44.99. Not to be mistaken with Sangiovese-based wines from the region of Montepulciano in Tuscany, this is the grape of Montepulciano from Abruzzo on the eastern coast of Italy. While this is certainly a higher price than we usually see for a Montepulciano, it is probably unlike any Montepulciano you've ever had. Robust, juicy, and full of big flavor. It has a smoky, savory aroma with hints of mesquite, then on the palate turns to soft and velvety macerated berries, pomegranate, violet, and black truffle with hints of warm spices from oak aging... or as the Wine Enthusiast review says, "like pork belly rubbed with brown sugar and cooked with plums." As for Collefrisio itself, it was founded by two lifelong friends in 2004 with the goal of respecting tradition and the earth but with a modern twist. All wines are organic, sustainable, vegan, and a true expression of the quality that Abruzzo is capable of.

Wine Pick 🥂

For the first time in quite a while, we have some wines in from the Finger Lakes! You asked and we heard you. Anthony Road 2022 Dry Riesling. We tried a few selections from this winery with a distributor last week and were quite impressed. And this is a cool little winery. Ann and John Martini left the suburbs of NYC and purchased land on Seneca Lake back in 1973 to raise their family while John worked at Cornell. They planted grapes and sold them to other wineries, then started making their own wine in 1990. Their kids are now all co-owners alongside them, and part of their property is used for teaching viticulture at Cornell. Full circle. This Riesling is classic in profile, with a petrol nose and "flavors and aromas of crisp apple, tangerine, lime zest, floral notes, and thyme." It got a whopping 95 points from James Suckling and retails at just $18.99.

Food Feature 🥩

I found a deal for us this week... my favorite hobby, as you know. Frozen Center Cut Bone-In Dry-Aged CAB Ribeyes, 16oz for $19.99, and Frozen Center Cut Dry-Aged CAB Strips, 12oz for $18.99. These prices are simply unreal. They were proprietary cuts for a private client that were over-produced, so they sent the extras to Detroit, lucky for us! I saw them and immediately snagged a few cases. If you want us to start thawing some out for you this weekend, just give us a call.

If you keep enjoying it, we'll keep doing it, no matter how many times we injure ourselves... But now, believe it or not, it's time to look forward to fall events.
