Did someone say FEBRUARY?!

Years ago I had to make a trip to Mobile, Alabama. Having met a gentleman in the bar one evening he asked where I was from, “Ohio” I responded. His response- “I used to live there myself.” Immediately I asked why the move to Alabama and all he said was, “February…”

The shortest month and many times the worst weather of the year, so much to look forward to…

WINE NEWS…

Something new every week, we’re tasting more and more each week and finding a few new ones each and every time to fill out the racks…

Dan’s Wine Feature

My feature this week is from John Duval, we tasted his 2015 GSM Plexus Red Blend and found it to be just what we were looking for. This Barossa Valley Red Blend is a steal at $39.99. John Duval is a legendary name. As only the third winemaker to be entrusted with the making of Australia’s most famous wine, Grange, John worked for Penfolds for 28 years (including 16 years as chief winemaker) until his departure in 2002. Despite his legendary status, John is a quiet, unassuming man who just happens to be one of the world’s greatest winemakers. He set out on his own with the 2003 vintage, sourcing fruit from some long-time friends in the valley. ‘Plexus’ Shiraz/Grenache/Mouvedre and ‘Entity’ Shiraz have quickly established the reputation of this label. We are excited to have Plexus in for you this week and hope that you’ll come in, pick one up and see why the name John Duvall represents the finest in winemaking.

Dan’s Pick

It’s not wine; it’s premium cocktails this week as my pick! On The Rocks Premium Cocktails come in a variety of forms and this week we’ve brought in Margaritas made with Hornitas Plata Tequila, Cosmos made with Effen Vodka & Aviations made with Larios Gin. These 375ml thirst quenchers are only $13.99 and well worth every penny. These are serious cocktails that take all the guesswork out of concocting your own. Made with premium liquors and spot on in taste and quality. After seeing these offered we did a little research and saw nothing but positive reviews, asked for samples from our sales rep, and drank them all in the same setting (maybe not the best idea). Beautifully packaged and awaiting a rocks glass filled with ice, these cocktails will be something to come home to.

Final Thought

Even though I’m not terribly excited about the month of February I still can

put a positive spin on it, we’re another month closer to hopefully getting through this madness of the last year. Hang in there and we’ll hopefully come out a bit better on the other side. Remember is the glass half full or half empty…either way you look at it we still at least have something for you to put in that glass.

Pease bring a mask when you come visit us at the store.

Cheers from all of us here at The Wine Merchant
