News 🗞

Summer is in full swing this weekend in Downtown Findlay -- the Art Walk and Car Tunes are back to back, and we will be here waiting for you to step in, cool off, and enjoy a tasty morsel or two. To help you out, we will have a Food Special and a Drink Special on both Friday and Saturday. How about some Beef Sliders to snack on? Ground Beef seasoned up and smashed, then cooked and set atop a mini Hawaiian Roll and topped with Cheese Sauce, Lettuce, Tomato, and Housemade Burger Sauce, served with Tots cooked in Duck Fat and dusted with Truffle Salt. Sounds good, right? Then for your glass, you may have heard that the drink of the summer is Jalapeño Sauvignon Blanc, which is simply a glass of crisp Sauvignon Blanc with a couple slices of frozen Jalapeño added. Well, we thought we'd give it a shot this weekend. We have a full keg of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and a container of freshly sliced and frozen Jalapeños prepped and ready to go. Beat the heat with a little more heat, right? Serving both Friday and Saturday while supplies last. And you know what... we might just whip up some more Cannoli.

Wine Feature ⭐️

Another bargain we hunted down for you... Pali Wine Co. 2019 Huntington Pinot Noir. This bottle was originally $35, and we found it for you at $21.99. Pali is a family-owned winery in Santa Barbara County, California, founded in 2005 by a couple who simply had a passion for wine. If we could all do that, right? While they source from other vineyards from time to time, their own vineyards are located in Santa Rita Hills where they grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir... the limestone soil and cool ocean fog there are ideal for those grapes. Huntington itself is 100% Pinot Noir from their organically-farmed vineyards, aged in French oak. Garnering 92 points from Wine Enthusiast -- which is remarkable, given they'd only been in business for 14 years back in 2019 -- this wine is described as "Rustic cherry meets wild thyme and pine along with raspberry, pomegranate and sage to form a fruit forward yet earthy palate supported by a pleasant backbone of bright acidity." This is a really nice Pinot, and given the price point, it won't last long...

Wine Pick 🥂

Well after losing access to several of our (and your) favorites, we finally got our hands on another White Bordeaux, the Château la Ouarde 2023 Graves Bordeaux Blanc. Graves is the only sub-region of Bordeaux that produces all three styles of wine for which Bordeaux is famed (red, white, and sweet). The majority of wine they produce is red, but their dry whites can be exceptional. This bottle is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon... the exact percentages I'm not sure of because there is very little information about this bottle online, but... I can say it tastes good. That's what matters, right? it looks like most prior vintages were around 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Sémillon, so that's my approximation for this bottle. If you like Sauvignon Blanc, you should try a Bordeaux Blanc... you get the zippy, zesty flavor of the Sauvignon Blanc with added body, texture, and richness from the Sémillon. "On the palate, the wine is energetic and concentrated. Racy acidity frames salty mineral flavors wrapped around a core of stone fruit," plus citrus fruit and some classic grassiness from the Sauvignon Blanc. Try a bottle for $19.99.

Oysters 🦪

We have Katama Bays this week, a big oyster from Martha's Vineyard. Usually over 3.5 inches, these guys are described as "a salty bomb with a sweet-as-candy finish." More importantly, they pair with our favorite thing... champagne 😏

Final Thoughts 💬

The final contenders for this year's Best of Findlay competition have been announced. We are once again up for Best Wine Shop, for which I am very grateful, but this year also brings us something I've been wanting for years now... a nomination for Best Meat Shop in town. That's right, all of my research and scouring for deals and honing my butcher skills has finally paid off. Voting starts August 1 and runs though August 21, and you can vote daily. So, if you feel we are deserving of either title this year, please remember to get online and vote... we would appreciate it.
