Happy Easter

Hours of Operation

Monday – Saturday

10am to 6pm

Calendar 🗓

April 7 (Friday) - National BEER DAY!!! We’ll have special beers and beer inspired foods to share with you on this special holiday. Mind you, this is not National Drink Beer Day; this is the day to recognize this favorite beverage. However, we will be encouraging consumption of this beverage on this hallowed day.

April 8 (Saturday) - Prime Rib Sandwiches until we run out!!! I had so much fun with the rotisserie that I’m using it again, this time with a whole Rib Roast, 13.29 pounds of Prime Rib straight off the grill. Sandwiches will be served with our own horseradish sauce, arugula, and tomato on an olive oil panini roll with roasted potato wedges on the side.

May 13 (Saturday) - Rosé all Day in the middle of May! This annual tasting event will require reservations and will include lunch. Give us a call to save your spot, then mark you calendars for this 12-2pm event!

Store News 🏬

Limited parking coming soon... I purchased new patio furniture on Tuesday thinking that it would come in sometime next week, but thanks to Amazon, it came today! I’m not saying the patio will be fully functional Thursday evening, but we will be losing a few parking spots because the patio is coming sooner rather than later.

Wine News🍷

The Rosé racks are almost full of new 2022 Rosés from all over the world, so we're ready for Spring and want to help you be the same. Including, the girls say, the perfect Easter bottle... I'll let you be the judge of that. That said, we have a few 2021 Rosés left that we're now willing to part with at 20% off. That's one tasty bargain if you ask me. Stop on down and see what we've got for you.

Dan’s Feature ⭐️

If Rosé isn’t on the table at Easter, then I’m not sure what better a day there would be. This week’s feature is a stand out favorite for this seasons releases, Jolie Laide’s 2022 Rosé of Cabernet Franc and Gamay from Healdsburg, California is simply outstanding! Their “Rosé of Cabernet Franc and Gamay come from two very diverse sites in Mendocino County and the El Dorado Hills, 58% Cab Franc and 42% Gamay. These grapes are picked early and whole cluster pressed then to stainless steel for fermentation to preserve bright acidity and freshness. Then it is placed in neutral barrique for 6 months. This wine shows an elegant pink coral hue with a perfumed nose of white nectarine, strawberry, tarragon and chamomile.” Not an inexpensive everyday Rosé, but certainly one for an occasion such as this weekend. Since I only brought a few in, I had to stop employees from purchasing this just so it could be this week’s feature…

Dan’s Pick 🥂

What’s always been an Easter staple -- Vouvray of course! It’s actually a staple for most holidays. Monmousseau Vouvray comes from the Loire Valley of France. Chenin Blanc from this region regularly is produced as three distinct types: Sec (sweet), Demi Sec (half sweet), and Dry. Our Monmousseau is on the Demi-Sec scale which makes it absolutely perfect for pairing with traditional items on the holiday table. This semi-dry wine in full youth appears as a beautiful straw yellow robe. The nose and the mouth are very complimentary, seduced by some sweet apple aromas which then goes to lime. A remarkable balance between a tender and very aromatic structure make it such a wine to enjoy at your holiday gathering, or anytime for that matter. It's not breaking the bank at $16.99, so you can afford to pick up a few of these for your Easter dinner. I’ve always described this wine as one that both a dry white wine drinker and a sweet white wine drinker can enjoy together. Try it out this weekend and see for yourself.

Food News 🐷

Still need a ham? We brought in a few extra from Smoking Goose just in case. We already sold a couple of them, so stop in soon if that sounds good to you. If ham's not on the menu, we’ve got some great pork, prime strip steaks, 8- and 10-ounce choice beef tenderloins, racks of veal that are seasoned and ready for the grill, and as always, fresh salmon just in today!

Food Feature 🥓

This week’s food special is something I mentioned in the newsletter last week, Wichita Packing Company’s Applewood Smoked Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin. I took a couple home for a little test cook last weekend and was very, very happy. These are a real treat and relatively easy to cook. I simply seared mine on the stovetop to cook the bacon a bit and then took them to the grill, keeping an eye on the internal temperature. I removed them from the grill at 135 degrees and let them rest a few minutes, then sliced them up. The tenderloins remained moist, and the addition of bacon made them even more delicious. Weighing in around 1.5lbs and going out the door at $12.99 makes this a great item for the grill and a simple weekend or even week night meal.

Oyster News 🦪

Oysters for this week are Duxbury from Massachusetts, and we have Sex on the Beach (😳) from New Brunswick coming in tomorrow. Yes, we have had these before, but it’s been a while since we’ve brought them in. So I’m pretty confident we’re not running out this week. Remember, Rockefeller, NOLA, or any of our three Mignonettes are available for these fresh, tasty mollusks!

Final Thoughts 💬

It’s been a busy week down here: small construction project, patio preparations, and of course all the new beers and wines. As I was earlier praising Amazon, I’ll just make note that only one of the four ordered sets arrived today… whatcha gonna do… Happy Easter from all of us to all of you!

Cheers from all of us here at the Wine Merchant!
