Kumusha Cabernet Sauvignon & Cinsault $21.99 from South Africa. The name of this 75/25 blend means either your home, your roots or your origins in Zimbabwean. It is described by the sommelier and wine maker as follows: “Ripe cherries and plum flavors, with hints of pomegranate and strawberry. Complements all types of juicy red meat dishes, especially slow cooked ones. Drinks best for up to 10 years.” We were pleasantly surprised by this sustainably produced, vegan 2021 vintage and couldn’t wait to share it with you!

*Coming tomorrow (Friday)* My pick for this week is Gateway Vino Verde from Portugal. This is a wine I would describe as a perfect porch/patio sipper and is my nod of hopefulness for the changing of the seasons. This bottle has been described as "bright with hints of citrus and pear. Lively finish thanks to razor sharp acidity. Easy to drink.” Need we say much more?! Come and get a bottle or two… And/or try the rose too!

Don’t forget to place your order for a Rosemary Tangerine Mustard Glaze Peachwood Smoked Ham from Smoking Goose for your Easter table. We have half hams at 4-5 lbs or whole hams at 8-10 lbs. Orders must be in by April 1 and hams will be in store the week of April 11. We are thrilled to carry Smoking Goose products in our store now and look forward to trying more fun things from this Indianapolis-based institution in the near future!
Food Feature of the Week
We’ve said it before and we will say it again… fresh Icelandic cod. This fish is flown in fresh to our distributor and then delivered to us. To say it is outstanding is an understatement. Cod is light, flaky and takes on the flavor of whatever you choose to season or cook it with. As we have said, we love it baked in a pool of tomato sauce and seasoned simply with salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. Squeeze a lemon over it and enjoy- simple, delicious and weeknight quick! Try it and you’ll be a believer!
