Wine ⚠️ - Don’t Forget the Wine!!!

Wine News🍷

We actually brought in a few new wines this week. Either they were great bargains or great wines or quite possibly both. Check below to see what’s new in the racks.

Dan’s Feature & Pick 🥂

Think large formats! Lots of people on Thanksgiving requires lots of, well, Turkey of course, but also wine! We have some spectacular Pinot Noirs, a red blend, and a beautiful Chardonnay. If you feel that a large format is a bit over the top, we’re still prepared to sell you multiple bottles of any thing you’d like. Take a few moments however to consider these wonderful large format wines: Cakebread Chardonnay, Far Niente EnRoute Pinot Noir, Belle Glos Clark and Telephone Pinot Noir, and the Prisoner Red Blend. These are all well known iconic wines that will surely grace the finest Thanksgiving table. Tasting notes follow:

Cakebread 2018 Chardonnay is an iconic Chardonnay from Napa Valley. This $99.99 magnum will receive high praise from those seated at your holiday dinner. Robert Parker gives this wine 90 points and describes it as being a Chardonnay that is 95% Carneros and 5% other Napa Valley fruit. Barrel fermented in 33% new oak, it spent eight months on the lees, and 18% went through malolactic. It was bottled June 1, 2019. Slowly, it reveals very pretty poached pears, apple pie and apricot scents with touches of beeswax, toasted almond and lanolin. Medium-bodied, the palate has great poise and finesse, delivering a racy backbone and loads of tight-knit stone fruit flavors, finishing long and toasty.”

On the $99.99 Far Niente EnRoute 2018 Pinot Noir, you will “taste the rich viscosity of flavors of dark currant, plum tart and cherry pastry. Graphite and hot stone notes emerge midpalate, with dark chocolate details and hints of pepper on the finish.”

The 2020 Clark and Telephone Pinot Noir, priced at $99.99, is a “big, bold and super ripe style of Pinot Noir. This bottling offers thick aromas of red and black cherry alongside mace and milk chocolate on the nose. The palate is viscous and powerful, with flavors of baked strawberry, cherry, nutmeg and licorice. The structure and acidity rise toward the finish.”

The 2019 Prisoner Red Blend has been a consistent wine for our racks for quite a while. Anytime you can buy a Magnum of this wine for less than the price of two 750s, you buy them. Priced at $74.99 for a magnum makes this wine an actual Holiday bargain. Tasting notes describe it as “a wine that was inspired by the wines first made by the Italian immigrants who originally settled in Napa Valley. The Prisoner is now the most recognized red blend, leading the resurgence of interesting blends by incorporating Zinfandel with the unlikely mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Charbono. Bright aromas of ripe raspberry, vanilla, and coconut give way to flavors of fresh and dried blackberry, pomegranate, and vanilla, which linger harmoniously for a smooth and luscious finish.”
