WINE NEWS…

We got a great deal this week and we’re excited to share it with you. Böen Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir regularly priced anywhere from $28.99 to $39.99 we were able to bring it in this week for $19.99!!!

Dan's Feature

Böen SMV 2016 Pinot Noir is a steal this week, we were able to pick up a case of this single vineyard Pinot from Joey Wagner and we’re excited to share it with you. Anytime we can get a great bottle at 10 to $20 off a bottle you know we’re going to bring it in, tasting notes describe it like this, “The 2016 Böen Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir is an excellent example of the "new aged" Pinots. This wine is deep and concentrated. Its aromas and flavors of dark fruits and generous oak followed by smooth textures allows it to be paired with anything”. A perfect pairing with our special Hogtoberfest Pork pack, because there’s nothing like a great Pinot paired with a great piece of Pork and we have them both here for you this week.

Dan’s Pick

I know the price point is backwards, but my pick for the week is a $29.99 bottle of domestic…Pink…Pinot Gris from Jolie–Laide Glen Oak Vineyards. It’s not only beautiful to look at in the glass, but this Sebastopol Pinot Gris is quite delicious, tasting notes describe it as “wildly perfumed of Charentias Melon, stone fruit, bergamot and kaffir lime leaf, this is not your grandmothers Pinot Grigio…” Something unique and something delicious if you’re looking for such a wine, we’ve got it taken care of.

Food News

For those that thought our Tomahawks were a bit too much to handle we’re happy to bring in Purely Meat Company Ribeyes. Purely is a Chicago supplier that provides the highest quality meats to Chicago’s finest restaurants and now you can get them here. $21.99lb for PRIME hand cut steaks that will give any beef eater an extraordinary dining experience, and Oh Yeah, we still have the Tomahawks.

Food Feature of the Week

Apple Cider Brined and smoked Heritage Pork Loin Chops accompanied with Munich Sauerkraut and of course a side of German Potato salad! Dinner for two for $19.99, smoked, cooked and packaged for your dinner Friday or Saturday. Kind of hard to beat, right… Now trust us we’re not doing 1,000 of these so if this sounds good to you, give us a call and we’ll put you on the list.

Final Thought

Old events turn into something new and we’re hoping that new events don’t become the normal… We’re trying to keep up the traditions and at times it’s difficult, but the bottom line is we enjoy sharing. In the meantime we’ll keep drinking and thinking about new ways to bring to you that which we wish to share, stay well, be well, and of course we hope to see you soon.

Please, please continue safe practices and please bring a mask when you come visit us at the store.

Cheers from all of us here at The Wine Merchant
