Wine News

We’ll have some old favorites back in stock today, Gorman Brothers Wines from the Columbia Valley have been out for sometime now but we got the news this week that, “The Devil you Know”, “The Devil you Don’t Know” and “Old Scratch Cabernet” will be back on the racks today! Columbelle white blend from the Gascogne region of France finally came in and another cheap and cheerful bottle from Penfold’s “Rawsons Retreat” is back and at a ridiculous price of $8.99 a bottle, this 2018 Australian Cabernet/Shiraz Blend is one to pull out for any and all activities this weekend!!

Dan’s Wine Feature

This week’s feature is from Smith and Hook Wineries, in the past we have carried two different products from them, their Cabernet and Red Blend but this week we’re featuring Smith & Hook 2018 Reserve Cabernet from Paso Robles. This wine is just what you would expect from this producer and this region of California. Tasting notes read as follows, “Seductively deep and vibrant brick red with hues of crimson, this Reserve possesses aromas of purple flowers, red cherries, cassis, cedar, warm gravel and graphite. With time, the nose on this wine continues to evolve, revealing plum, leather and tobacco accents. The palate is youthful and vibrant, balancing on the lighter side of blue and black fruits and berries. A second sip introduces cherry candy and wet rock minerality. A third sip brings forest floor bramble and dried herb notes. The wine is in constant motion, playfully dancing across the palate until it dissolves into dusty, fine tannins”. Much more than I could ever say…This new superb selection from Paso will be enjoyed by all and at $39.99 a fair price for a bottle this good!

Dan’s Pick

Nothing says Happy Memorial Day better than Daisy Pinot Grigio! This 2020 Washington State Pinot Grigio is really a white blend comprised of Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and a splash of Moscato making this about the easiest drinking and tasting white blend you can have on hand, it’s a crowd pleaser and at $12.99 it’s one you can put out for everyone. Aptly described by the Bieler Family as “a blend of four white grape varieties, co-fermented at the precise moment of optimal ripeness, Daisy opens with gorgeous aromas of grapefruit, lychee, licorice and summer flowers, framed by a flinty minerality. The palate delivers an intriguing interplay between rich, ripe notes and a firm acid backbone”. I’ll always describe this wine both as cheap and cheerful and a great value crowd pleasing wine that it is.

Food News

It’s everything for the grill this weekend, our big burgers are in and we’ve got plenty, Teres Major and Hanger steaks the best bang for your buck are trimmed out and ready to go and of course our hand cut Choice Ribeyes and Prime Strip Steaks are always ready and waiting to find a good home. Of course if it’s Pork you’re looking for we have you covered there as well, be it Kurobuta Chops, Nueskes Cheddar Bratwursts or Italian Sausages and maybe one of our feature foods which is next to read about,,,

Food Feature of the Week

Our food feature this week is for the Pork lover, Dbl bone/cut Berkshire Pork Chops! Noticed earlier this week that we had available to us these chops that are normally reserved for Ruth Chris Steak House, did I want some “YES” these 16/18oz chops will be a star at your table and some of the best Pork you’ve ever tasted and at the price we’re selling them for I’m sure you’ll never order them again at Ruth Chris prices…
