It’s starting to look a lot like… February?? 😳

Hours of Operation

Monday – Saturday

10am to 6pm

Who would have thought that 700 oysters weren’t enough for Saturday? We’ve never, ever opened that many oysters in a day…

(Next time we’re getting a thousand)

Calendar 🗓

Jan. 28 (Sat) - Pizzas & Blue Chips

Feb. 14 (Tues) - Valentine's Day Dinner (SOLD OUT)

Feb. 21 (Tues) - It’s Fat Tuesday, and that means a variety of Cajun specials will be served up for this annual event. No reservations; just hearty appetites and an attitude of "laissez les bons temps rouler!"

Store News 🏬

Pizza and Blue Chips this Saturday! I mean, we’ve done something every weekend so far, so why stop now? Pizzas, be they meat or vegetable, will be served all day Saturday along with our good old Blue Chips. We’re going back to some of our favorites for this weekend. Stop in for a glass or two of wine, or have a couple beers with one of our pizzas or other specials this weekend.

Wine News🍷

Not a lot of news for this section this week; the weather kind of curtailed sales reps bringing out new wines for us to try. However, we did pick up a couple new wines and brought back a Portuguese that had been forgotten. With the weather going every direction, we’re just on the lookout for some great reds to ease the season.

Dan’s Feature ⭐️

Mother Tongue 2015 Shiraz from the Barossa Valley is my feature for this week. I know I mentioned this in the store news last week, but I can’t help myself, I need to say it again… only 80 cases of this wine was produced, and it all came from 80-year-old Shiraz vines! “What first stands out is the umami, earthy beetroot and mushroom aromas, which weave between tangy rhubarb, currant and blueberry fruit, and the notes of the pan scrapings of roast veggies with dried herbs to match. There's a good lick of chocolaty, cola-like oak, too. The palate is tangy, if a bit oaky. Tannins are fine and talc-like, well integrated with the plush fruit. Drink now with a hearty meal or cellar until around 2028.” You can save it for five more years if you’d like, but I’m telling you, it’s pretty darn tasty right now. I’m going to continue to purchase this wine until it's gone because this savory beauty at $50.99 is still cheaper than any I saw online, and it drinks so much above that price point. This wine reminds me of the good ole days of big, rich Australian Shiraz.

Dan's Pick 🥂

This week’s pick is from Spain: Raimat 2021 Albariño. This all-purpose white is just the right price at $12.99. Described by the winery as, “pale yellow with greenish highlights. Noticeable mineral aromas at the start, joined halfway by white flowers, mango, melon and grapefruit. Fresh, citrus sensation in mouth at first, becoming more voluminous midway and with a long and refreshing finish dominated by white flowers and melon. Ideal for Japanese and Thai dishes such as tempura and pan-fried vegetables. Also for dishes featuring white meat, fish, seafood, rice dishes, pasta and appetizers.” I like keeping an Albariño in stock, and after our last one skyrocketed in price, this became our new go-to. Sure, it may seem like a summer wine, but if you enjoy the minerality and notes o flowers and tropical fruit, who cares what season it is? Life's too short…drink what you like and be happy.

Food Feature 🐟 But, but, it’s Halibut! That’s right, we got a great deal on some big fish, and we brought in enough to share with you. Fresh, wild caught Halibut from the cold, cold waters of Alaska, here today at $21.99/lb. One week ago, that was the price I was asked to pay wholesale, believe it or not. These are beautiful, thick fillets that will be perfect when grilled or baked. If you’re a fish lover, we have you covered with both fresh Mahi-Mahi and of course today's Halibut. Our recommendation? Fish tacos! We tried them out for lunch this week, and they were delicious. We even made some extra fruit salsa for you, just $3.99 down here at the store.

Final Thoughts 💬 Staring out the window at a wintery mix leads me to food and drink. I’m not thinking about going sledding or building a snowman; I’m thinking about dinner with a great glass of wine. If you’re remotely like me, stop in and we’ll take care of both the beverages and the meal, be it pasta, beef, pork, or fresh fish. Hope to see you soon…
