Beer Tasting
It’s an eclectic tasting this Saturday! We’ll start off with a classic German Pilsner that’s been brewed since the year 1040. Next we’ll taste an Arctic Pale Ale from Iceland. Number three will be a Triple Style Golden Ale from Quebec and we’ll finish with a traditional Oatmeal Stout from merry old England. Do a little globe drinking with us this Saturday, it’s always fun to try something new.
Dan’s Feature
Daou Pinot Noir from the Central Coast of California, we’re a big fan of David’s wines and this new addition to the store is no exception. This 2018 Pinot is an elegant, authentic and accessible Pinot Noir made from David Daou’s favorite coastal vineyards. The vintage offers enticing aromas of cherry, rhubarb and rose petal, with notes of African violet, cloves and toasty oak. Silky and lush on the palate, this wine delivers rich flavors of ripe strawberry, cherry and black raspberries. Subtle hints of black olive and truffle add complexity and sophistication to this elegant and ethereal wine. Transitioning from mid-palate to the persistent finish is smooth and seamless, leaving a lovely, lingering memory of sweet strawberries, juicy plum, and pine forest. This is a great buy for $24.99, if you’re a lover of this varietal then stop on in and get a few, it’s that good…
Dan’s Pick
Cave de Saumur Les Pouches Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley of France. This 2017 $12.99 bottle will be a crowd pleaser it’s beautiful deep ruby red in color with a bouquet of red fruit, black currant and raspberry make it attractive as soon as it hits the glass. A fruity flavor and spice greets the palate with characteristic soft tannins and an elegant finish. This week’s pick is by no means a sweet wine, it is however a classic representation of what the Loire Valley does best with their Cabernet Francs.
Friday/Saturday Special
Sticking with the BIG PIZZAS! This week is THE BIG Cheeseburger Pizza…Ground beef, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a 12” Pizza Crust!!!
Final Thought
Always speculation on what will happen next door, we’ll all just have to wait and see…All I know is that this Sunday is the eighth anniversary of the Argyle, it was a sad day for all. After closing for approximately four months we were once again allowed to open. The moral to this story, the fire next door was a tragedy and a complete surprise. What the future holds for the lot remains to be seen but one thing we know is that we’re here and open, still eight years after the fire and ready for anything that comes our way…
Cheers from all of us here at The Wine Merchant
