October 12th – Saturday Hogtoberfest featuring Dogfish 120 Minute on tap, with Fat Head’s Spooky Tooth for dessert! For the pork part, this year we’re partnering with Millers Meats for our annual and awesome event. Beer Tasting

MadTree vs. Alesmith this week for our Saturday tasting! We’ll start off with MadTree’s Coffee Table Blonde Ale and then sip into Alesmith Luped In IPA. It’s back to MadTree to try their Galaxy High Imperial IPA and then back to the west coast for Alesmith’s Nut Brown Ale. Four great beers for this Saturday’s tasting, come on down and enjoy these great beers with us, we enjoy sharing…

Feature Item

This week’s feature may speak to a lot of you, Perfectionist. The 2016 vintage scored 95 points from Robert Parker, Perfectionist comes from Linne Calodo of Paso Robles. While regularly priced at $82.99 and being a special one time only purchase we got our hands on a few of these at $67.99, while not a huge savings we decided to take it because the wine …well it’s that good. Perfectionist is a blend of 74% Syrah, 17% Mourvedre and 9% Grenache making this a big, well-blended Syrah. Coming from Paso Robles you kind of know where this is going. Calodo wines are well made and respected wines that will keep you wanting more so if you’re a fan of Paso wines or Syrah or even for that matter beautiful, big red blends you’ll want to get a few of these so stop in and get one before they slip away.

Dan’s Pick

Something simple and remarkably good for my pick this week, Les Copains d’abord Gamay. This fresh young wine would definitely be my choice for Fall fun. Gamay is possibly the easiest red to enjoy, it’s picnic wine and while it may not be picnic weather it’s certainly tailgating weather. This $17.99 French beauty is a wine that will be enjoyed by all, soft and rich with hints of wonderful fruit it can be enjoyed with or without food. If you’re just looking for a great easy drinking glass of wine, this bottle is for you. Stop by and pick a few up either for the game or your next empty glass.

Friday Night Special

This week’s special sandwich will be the long missed Merchant Turkey; turkey, hummus, pesto, roasted red pepper, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, and arugula placed on naan bread then baked in the oven and served straight to you. Come on down this Friday and Saturday and enjoy this great sandwich…

Final Thoughts

It’s full blown Fall now, football, tailgating, bolder beers and wines and a new holiday season on the horizon. We’re looking forward to sharing everything new that comes our way and hope that you embrace this new season as much as we do… Even though many of our activities are rapidly selling out we still have many of our favorites that aren’t, whatever your plans, be they with us or on your own we’re here to share the best that we can get with you. Hope to see you soon…

Cheers from all of us at the Wine Merchant!
