This Weeks Tasting

Bell’s and 3 Floyds will be our beers for this week’s tasting, our first will be from Bell’s, Prairie Grass Dividing II. Number two will be a little Yum Yum from 3 Floyds and in keeping with the Munster connection, number three will be their Space Station Middle Finger. To finish things off it’s back to Bell’s for Official Hazy IPA. Hopefully there are some new beers here for you to try and I’ll tell you this, all these beers will go great with this week’s special sandwich!

Feature Item

For the second time this year, Reynolds Family 2016 Persistence Red Blend WAS $69.99 NOW $39.99 This is what I had to say about this wine last April, they did so well at the $39.99 price point that they chose to keep it down for the 2016 vintage!

“It’s not only a feature for this week, it’s a bargain!!! Reynolds Family Persistence Red Blend is my feature and besides being an elegant full-bodied red blend it was priced at $69.99 and we got it in this week at $39.99! This 2015 blend is comprised of Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Petite Verdot, basically an American Bordeaux. When offered this bargain I was obviously very interested but after tasting it I was overjoyed. Sometimes you get a great price on a wine and sometimes, like today, you get a great wine at even a greater price. Would I have this with Easter Dinner, you bet. Would I open a bottle of this on a Thursday evening with a pizza, you bet. I’m not sharing this with you because it’s a great price, I’m sharing this with you because it’s just that good…” This wine truly won’t be here long so get this while you can!

Dan's Pick

Every once in awhile you just want to open a bottle and not feel guilty and this week’s pick is it…Arraez Mala Vida 2017 Red Blend from Spain. This $12.99 is an easy drinking red wine for the porch, patio or barbecue. You always need one of these handy, besides that Tuesday evening bottle that you don’t want to feel guilty about it also serves well as that second bottle status. We like finding daily drinkers and this is the newest one in our collection and we hope soon in yours as well...

This Week’s Friday & Saturday Sandwich

Beef brisket, slow roasted, gently pulled, stacked high on a focaccia roll, topped with barbecue sauce & red cabbage slaw obviously accompanied with our kettle chips for only $9.00… We’re working on bringing you a different sandwich as often as we can and making it the absolute bestest sandwich we can create!!!

Final Thought

There’s been a lot going on down here at the Wine Merchant recently so this weekend it’s back to normal, normal great service, normal great wine, normal great beer and another normal great sandwich for you this weekend. Sometimes normal is just what you want, and after a long busy week it’s always nice to know that you’re going somewhere where well, there’s no surprises. So, surprise, there’s no surprise this weekend we just want to be that normal place you come to visit without the unexpected…

Cheers from all of us at the Wine Merchant!
