Dan’s Wine Feature
The 2019 Caymus Cabernet was released this week and just in time for that Valentines Day Dinner. Caymus is a delicious Napa Cabernet that for the past 47 vintages has remained consistently great! Chuck Wagner struck a cord with this iconic Napa Cab that still makes a statement today. This is one of those wines that while most recognize, some may have stayed away due to its cost, and we’re happy to say that the price remained the same as it’s previous vintage. Is $89.99 a hefty price? Sure it is, but for a special occasion this bottle is a perfect fit. Valentines Day is right around the corner and I can’t think of anything that goes better with a big Prime Cabernet other than a big Prime Steak. Stop in and celebrate with one, or cellar it for your next celebration.
My pick for this week is from Mendoza, Argentina where, by the way, it’s summer right now. Tikal Natural is a Bio-Dynamic wine comprised of 60% Organic Malbec, 40% Organic Syrah. This blend captures the natural expression of untouched grapes and the true essence of the Uco Valley vineyard where they were picked. It has a beautiful pomegranate color and an aroma of fresh red cherries with light French oak undertones. The palate is fresh and lively with black raspberry and spiced mocha notes. While most of you know Malbec is not my cup of…tea? You add Syrah and now we have a different animal that I’ll pour into something much larger than my tea cup! This new arrival at $19.99 is a welcome addition to the Argentina selections and certainly ticks a lot of the boxes. Malbec, Syrah, Bio-Dynamic and Organic there’s almost nothing to argue with here, stop by and pick up one for something new and delicious.
Brunch Bag This Week! Sorry about last week, we never expected to sell out on Friday, but we’ll have plenty in for this week! Groundhog Day was Tuesday?? Not that I put a whole lot of faith in a burrowing, furry rodent, but hey these days you gotta believe in something. Six more weeks of winter, sure bring it on, many of us already feel like the entire last year has been nothing but one long Groundhog Day. Now my new hope is that Dr. Fauci comes out and doesn’t see his shadow… Cold weather for the next six weeks, we can handle that, not that this is the only weather for red wine but it certainly helps during these conditions. Drink up, eat well and as always stay safe.
