News 🗞

I know I said last week was the last event of the year, but since when can you believe me when I say something like that? This Saturday, another soup special to warm you up, White Chicken Chili. Juicy Michigan Family Farms chicken, creamy white beans, spicy chiles... what more could you want? All day Saturday while supplies last. Come enjoy a cozy bowl of soup before the holiday madness hits. Speaking of... we've got plenty in the store for any last minute shopping you need to complete. We have gifts and stocking stuffers for that person in your life who loves wine, or food, or beer, or cooking, or hosting, or what have you. Stock of some items is certainly slimming down, but we're doing our best to keep a good variety in the store for those of you who might find they are missing a thing or two over the next week. And of course, we have plenty of wine for all of your gifts and gatherings, so stop on down to pick out what you need, or let us pick it out for you. We're more than happy to help. We're stocked up on $10 bottles, $100 bottles, and everything in between... hopefully including some of your favorites.




Wine Feature(s) ⭐️

Just in time for your Christmas gifts, we have a special arrival in the store from one of our favorites, Sea Smoke. Sea Smoke is from the Santa Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbara County. It boasts the sunniest and southernmost Tier 1 region for wine growing in the northern hemisphere, perfect for Pinot Noir. With its location, the grapes get bold sun during the day and are cooled by Pacific fog -- or "sea smoke" -- that drifts along the Santa Ynez River valley each night. It creates perfect, ripe grapes for Pinot Noirs that are bold and expressive. Southing Pinot Noir ($119.99), named after the south-facing slopes where the grapes grow, is complex with elegant acidity and notes of currant, strawberry, rose, and clove. Ten ($119.99), named after all ten Pinot Noir clones grown on the property and used in this wine, is intense and will convert even the most dedicated Cab drinker, with notes of blueberry, cassis, hazelnut, and thyme. The Chardonnay ($109.99), which is maybe a bit of an underdog here, is elegant with aromas of Meyer lemon zest, fresh cut melon, honeycomb, mandarin, and a slight nuttiness. These wines are organic, biodynamic, and low production, so you won't find them often. We only get them in once a year, and we have just one 6-pack of each, so stop down or give us a call if they sound as special to you as they are to us. Try one or all three in a gift box for someone extra special.


Wine Pick(s) 🥂

Want to feel like you're meandering through the sparkling streets of a German Christmas market? Get yourself a bottle of authentic German Glühwein. Glühwein is a German mulled wine, traditionally made with red wine and mulling spices -- think cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, etc. -- served around Christmas. It is served warm, which is why we've been sampling it in the crockpot in the store this week. The balance of flavors is what makes a Glühwein special, and these bottles do a great job of it. From St. Christopher, we have Traditional, Blueberry, and Cherry. We get the Traditional in every year, but the flavored bottles are new to us. We also got a little something different this year from Albrecht Dürer, a Honey Glühwein that is made with white wine and honey in addition to the spices. This is the same honey used to make Nurberg's famous honey-spiced gingerbreads. All of these bottles are $11.99 and make a great gift or just something to enjoy around the table or fire with your loved ones this holiday season. They are selling fast, so stop down soon if you are interested.


Oyster Selection 🦪

We are trying a new oyster this week, Bear Tides from Plymouth, MA. Should've gotten these for Thanksgiving... oh well. Bear Tide Oysters is a hands-on family business dedicated to producing the finest oysters through sustainable farming practices. High-volume tidal flow, sandy bottoms, and a varied topography coupled with rich tradition and history give oysters from America’s hometown the longstanding tradition of great flavor, high quality, and seasonal variety. Available all seasons, Bear Tide Oysters are rich, hearty, and well-formed with distinct and sophisticated flavors that range from salty to sweet. Their flagship Bear Tide oyster is 3-3.5" long, featuring deep cup shells, a smooth tender composition, and a flavor that is salty with a sweet note on the tail end. Food Features 🎄

This is a repeat of last week because it still applies... Our features this week are our packages and suggestions for Christmas and New Year's. Give us a call by 4pm today if you'd like any of these items in time for Christmas. I'll order extra of some things, so don't worry too much if you miss the deadline, but the order will be submitted this afernoon. For Christmas, our suggestions are the Prime Dry-Aged Bone-In Prime Rib for $32.99/lb or Crab-Stuffed Salmon, with Faroe Islands Salmon at $18.99/lb and Lump Crab at $26.99/lb. We mix the crab with cream cheese, shredded cheese, garlic, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper, maybe some spinach or sun-dried tomato, then slice the fish in half horizontally, fold back, and stuff away. It's a fantastic and different option that will impress everyone at your table. For New Year's Eve, we are offering a Surf & Turf deal for $75. It includes two 6oz Tenderloins, two 4oz Lobster Tails, a 4pk of Au Gratin Potatoes, and a bottle of Sparkling Wine. What else could you need? Finally, for New Year's Day, we are suggesting our Bone-In Heritage Pork Roasts for $8.99/lb and Weisswurst Traditional Bavarian Veal Sausage, also $8.99/lb.
