WINE NEWS…

Not so much new this week but can we keep it in stock? Any special requests for bottles will need to be placed by this Saturday…

Dan’s Wine Feature

The Squirrels are back in stock! Both the Cabernet and the Red Blend, we’ve gone through these so fast that they’ve been hard to keep in stock. So this week I should have enough in to get us through Christmas. Both of these gems are priced at $25.99 and are true bargains, second labels from Corliss Estate are just a hint at what you’re getting. Red Mountain fruit is always one of my favorite vineyard sources and that’s another reason why these wines are so good, vineyard site, skilled wine makers and appropriately priced make these a perfect holiday selection. If you’ve been fortunate enough to have purchased these before you understand, if not, join the club and Squirrel a few away for the holidays…

Dan’s Pick

Patricia Raquin’s Burgundy is my pick for this week. It’s rare to find a true Burgundy from Beaune, France for $24.99 so when this 2018 was brought in for us to try, it spoke to me. Notes from this wine are as follows,“the animals shown on the label are dogs. The breed is called Borzoi, also called "Russian Wolfhound", which means "fast" in Russian. Patricia and Alain are proud owners of 2 Borzois and they designed this label so that the dogs will be guardian of the vaulted ageing cellar inside their house. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown on gravel and silt soils, aged in French oak barrels. Medium to full bodied, earthy, fruity, good minerality with fine structure and tannins on the finish. The wine pairs well with any hearty red meats and cheeses”. I liked the label and I like dogs but I really like a true French Burgundy for this price and I’m sure you will as well.

Food News

So, a woman walks in to the Wine Merchant…No, not a joke. After selecting a few bottles of wine she noticed our beef selection “Oh, I’ll have to check with my husband in the car to see if he would like these”. She texts him, and his response was “who buys steaks at a Wine Shop?”. I simply responded “anyone who wants one of the best steaks available in Findlay. We truly pride ourselves in getting in the finest cuts from the finest purveyors to share with you.”
