WINE NEWS…

Rearranging, removing and searching for some new favorites. Keep an eye out for the newsletter and also come on down and take a peak at our new placements and some of our newest additions.

Dan’s Wine Feature

William Fevre 2018 Chablis Champs Royaux is my feature for this week. While priced moderately at $30.99 this is the wine that makes an ABC (anything but chardonnay) drinker a fan of Chardonnay Fevre's Champs Royaux Chablis is impressively precise, delivering a nose of citrus fruits, flowers, green apple and flinty flavors of wet stone in the mid-palate with a beautifully clean finish. Fresh, supple, it is marked by mineral notes, typical of the appellation. A perfect accompaniment for shellfish menus, grilled fish, oysters, and sushi - but would also work well with many roast chicken recipes seasoned with fresh herbs such as thyme or tarragon. Versatility and elegance all in the same bottle, stop in and pick up the perfect ingredients for your dinner tonight.

Dan’s Wine Pick

Duque De Sevilla 2019 white blend from Spain is my pick for this week. And at $9.99 it’s the kind of bottle that you want a few of, this easy drinking blend of Viura and Chardonnay while being very versatile is also very quaffable. This bottle can easily be paired with any of our new fish or simply enjoyed by itself. Stop in and get a few and you can see four yourself.

FOOD NEWS

There’s lot’s of new great items this week, once again our focus is from the sea but not without noting a couple of great pieces of beef we have in store for you. Halibut, Swordfish and Grouper will be returning or in stock for the first time. From the Pasture, well, it’s Dry Aged Strips and Bone in Prime Ribeyes (and may I add they’re not normal ribeyes). I’m excited to share these new items with you and also to pick a few great wines to be enjoyed alongside.

Food Feature of the Week

Fresh Bone in Prime Tomahawk Ribeyes or Dry Aged Strip steaks, your choice $16.99 lb. I rarely get this excited about a food delivery day but this Tuesday was the exception. What we have in stock this week is exceptional beef at even a more exceptional price. Our dry aged strips are limited and our Tomahawks need to be called in and ordered and we’ll choose a pick-up time for you. We want to limit the cut times on these freakin gorgeous pieces of beef…

Final Thought

Summer is slipping away and pretty much it’s one that won’t be remembered fondly. We miss the gatherings and events here and the frivolity, which comes with it. We would love to be announcing a Fall events Calendar, Best Wurst, Hogtoberfest and the Alternative Dinner all unfortunately are on hold for now as we continue to watch and wait. We will continue to find new items to share with you as we continue to carry a hopeful attitude for the future.

Please, please continue safe practices and please bring a mask when you come visit us at the store.

Cheers from all of us here at The Wine Merchant
