Feature Item

Domaine de Terrebrune Bandol Rose is my feature for this week, I know, I know it’s fall but when we were presented with this 2017 wine this week at a big discount so we brought some in. Why, you may ask, well because first and foremost, it’s Bandol and secondly it was just that good and when you can buy a bottle of Bandol for $19.99, which, by the way is down from $34.99, you do. Here’s what others had to say about this 93 point rated wine, “Terrebrune means “brown earth” in French, a reference to the color of the soil that overlays the blue-limestone bedrock at Reynald Delille’s estate in Ollioules. Mourvèdre thrives here, taking on the chewy density that defines Bandol reds—a quality that also informs this rosé. Close your eyes and you may, in fact, mistake it for a darker wine, with its musky, floral fruit scents and meaty cherry flavors; meanwhile, notes of forest floor and sea spray place the wine squarely on the Mediterranean coast. It’s ready for sliced steak, or a long spell in the cellar”. Bandol Rose is a favorite to all who appreciate Rose, known for it’s complex rich notes and the fact that it can be cellared. If you like Rose this bottle is a must.

Dan’s Pick

My pick this week is Blind Taste Pinot Noir from the Central Coast of California. I normally am not interested in purchasing $10.99 bottles of Pinot but when I looked at the back of the label and saw who produced it, I had to go in and go in kinda big. There’s precious little press on this wine except for what you can glean from the back label, “Made and bottled by Austin Hope of Paso Robles, California”. That was enough for me. Is it the biggest best Pinot I’ve tasted? No, is it a bottle for any day of the week? Yes. It’s surprisingly very, very good and will satisfy a Pinot Noir drinker quite well. This is a bottle to sit and drink and sometimes, that’s exactly what we’re looking for.

Friday Special

“Da” Balls are back, not in a great quantity so if you’re a fan of our meatballs make sure and get down here! This week we’ll have them with a traditional red sauce and covered in cheese served with crostini. Our Fall weather special is sure to please.

Final Thought

Hopefully we’re looking forward to a long Fall season, we’ve been searching for some great fall bargains and are starting to bring them in. With harvest in for the 2019 season wineries need to make room for this years vintage and distributors need to sell inventory so that they can accept the new releases. Usually this means bargains and nobody likes a bargain like we do, so keep an eye on our new wines and we’ll see what we can get…

Cheers from all of us at the Wine Merchant!
