Wednesday - Saturday, 10am to 8pm

Calendarย ๐Ÿ—“

April 8 (Monday) - TOTAL ECLIPSE!!!!! ๐ŸŒ–๐ŸŒ—๐ŸŒ˜๐ŸŒ‘๐ŸŒ’๐ŸŒ“๐ŸŒ” We will be open until 8pm on this auspicious Monday with special seating including additional patio space, themed food, and drink specials... everything we can think of, and believe you me, we've been thinking about it for a while. Call and reserve your patio table today ($75) before they sell out! We have no idea what Findlay will be like on this day, but we can't wait to find out.

April 13 (Saturday) - Second Saturday, details TBD. We might still be recovering from the eclipse.

April 19 (Friday) - We're not sure what we're doing this day yet either, but we will be doing something to celebrate 419 Day alongside the rest of Downtown Findlay.

May 11 (Saturday) - Rosรฉ in May, 12pm-2pm. Give us a call to reserve you spot for this annual event.

Newsย ๐Ÿ—ž

Is there really anything to talk about besides the eclipse??? Firstly, we have lots of wines and beers in a special display in the store for you to take home if you're hosting or celebrating on your own. If you're able to come celebrate with us, here's what we've got planned for you: a Food Special, the Croissant of Totality, with Italian Rosemary Ham, French Brie, and Blackberry Jam; Pink Moon Oysters --- didn't even have to come up with a name for this one; and a variety of desserts, including Black and White Cookies from Carnegie Deli in New York. For your glass, we'll obviously have some sun- and moon-themed Glass Pours, Beer Specials, and a fun Frozen beverage. We'll be expanding the patio and will have several standing tables available there, but don't forget that we still have some of our regular seated patio tables available to rent for a fee, so give us a call ASAP if you'd like one of those. I know a lot of schools and businesses will be closing for the event, but not us. We'll be open late until 8pm so the party can continue well past 3:10.

Wine Featureย โญ๏ธ

It's not often that we feature a white wine, but if ever there was a week to do so, it's this one. We got in a truly delicious White Bordeaux, Clos des Lunes 2022 Lune d'Argent. Clos des Lunes is one of the very few properties in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux that produces something other than the sweet dessert wine of the same name. Olivier Bernard and the team at Domaine de Chevalier saw the remarkable potential of the ancient vineyard site that produces this wine, noting that its unique microclimate could and would make some remarkable dry white wines. As evidence, this bottle got 90-92 points across the board. It consists of 70% Semillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc, though neither of the grapes truly dominates the flavor profile. It is "a pure, balanced, medium- to full-bodied white with clean citrus and floral aromatics, a good spine of acidity, and a clean, lengthy finish. It's a classy Bordeaux Blanc." With notes of creamy lemon, tangerine, chamomile, apricot, and honeysuckle, it's got balance and depth. You can go home with a bottle of this wine for $27.99.

Wine Pickย ๐Ÿฅ‚

This week we have for you the Concura 2016 Fasi Primitivo. As you may know, Primitivo is Zinfandel grown in Italy. Zinfandel, while extremely common in California and probably what most of you are familiar with drinking, actually originated in Croatia before hopping over to Italy, where it's been grown for centuries, if not millennia. It's most common in Puglia in the southeast of the country, which is where this particular bottle hails from. This wine from Concura, a family affair run by three Italian cousins, has rich, jammy red fruit --- think blackberry and raspberry preserves --- and notes of cocoa, vanilla, and oak. It's medium-bodied and lower in acidity, making it extremely easy to drink. If you like Zinfandel, try one from this region for $21.99. Plus... it's obviously perfect for the eclipse!

Food Featureย ๐Ÿซ’

When this item makes a triumphant return into the store, how could I feature anything else?? This is the olive oil that Gianni brings directly from Italy. If you go to their website, it's all in Italian. This stuff is therefore the real deal. It's not an oil that you would buy to cook with; at $29.99, it's a finishing oil, to use on salads or to drizzle on top of anything on which you want some extraordinary color, flavor, and texture. They say on their site (translated by Google, of course): "To obtain quality extra virgin olive oil, the condition of the olives, picked and unpicked, and the cold pressing method are important; all these factors result in a slightly spicy oil, with a hint of bitterness and an intense green color... The ideal geographical position of the Frantoio Sanminiatese, combined with the climatic and environmental conditions, the variety and method of cultivation of the olive trees, allows us to produce an oil with a harmonious and fruity taste, characterized by hints of artichoke, cut grass, almond, with notes bitter and spicy, typical of Tuscan oil." We only get this in 2-3 times a year, so come grab a bottle or two while you can.

Oyster Featureย ๐Ÿฆช

Why, Pink Moons, of course! From New London, PEI, these beauties are a medium size with the perfect balance of salt and creaminess and a nice mineral finish. Try these with a glass of sparkling rosรฉ for a great pairing. We also got in some Thunder Coves AND more Princetowns so that we definitely do not run out of oysters this week. Thunder Coves are from where else but Thunder Cove, PEI, and are a larger size with a smooth salinity. Make sure to have a squeeze of lime on these -- it'll make a difference. If you recall from last week, Princetowns are also from Thunder Cove, PEI, and have a strong salinity with a note of seaweed. Three options for you this week.

Final Thoughtsย ๐Ÿ’ฌ

It's been a lot of fun brainstorming ideas and searching out special items for Monday. Am I excited to see the eclipse? Sure, but I'm more excited to see what Downtown Findlay turns into, and to show you all what we've come up with. And as you may have surmised... the patio is indeed up, and Patio Season can officially begin ๐ŸŽ‰ I saw some snowflakes this morning, so clearly our timing is perfect. Hope to see you all this weekend, and if you can make it on Monday, I can't wait to share this once in a lifetime experience with you.

Cheers from all of us here at the Wine Merchant!
