News 🗞

This weekend is many things but among them here in Findlay, it's the Winter Art Walk, so we'll be doing it up on Friday as usual -- open until 9pm, a pizza special at the bar, and a wine tasting in the store form 5-7pm. The Wine Tasting will be four wines for $20 -- a bubbly, a white, and two reds. We'll also be featuring an artist, Lynn & Eve Art, so come down anytime between 5 and 7 to taste some wines and see some art. She's got some beautiful stuff. As for the pizza special, we'll be doing a Thai Garlic Chicken Pizza. What does that entail? It's simply a crisp woodfired crust topped with a Thai plum sauce, garlicky chicken, and some salty feta to balance it all out. I was inspired by a delicious pizza that I had yesterday. Serving Friday night only, and potentially Saturday if there are any left. I don't know who you're rooting for this weekend, but what I do know is... you need food. We have Fresh Short Rib Burgers, Fresh Ribeyes, Frozen Pizzas, Potato Wedges, and more for your Super Bowl spread. Or maybe even order a Charcuterie... nothing says American Football like charcuterie, right?

Wine Feature ⭐️

This week's feature is a new Pinot Noir from France, I still contend the best Pinots in the world, Domaine Michel Goubard 2023 Mont-Avril Bourgogne Rouge. This is 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, from a family-owned winery and an estate that has been producing wine since the 1600s, and still traditionally- and sustainably-made with minimal intervention, same as they've always done. When compared to California, Burgundian Pinots are a little drier, a little earthier, a little more nuanced. This one is definitely those things but also on the fruitier side for France, so I consider it a good balance of American and French. Dare I say there is no one who wouldn't like this wine. "This wine offers a lively, perfumed bouquet of bright cherry and red berries. The palate is soft and supple, with silky tannins and subtle earthy undertones. It’s elegant and approachable, with a gentle touch of spice and floral lift." This is such a versatile wine that can pair with almost anything, $31.99.

Wine Pick 🥂

Going with a bit of a local pick this week, BonAnno 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma's Alexander Valley. If you came down last year for our Italy event with Kevin Bonnano, this wine is made by his brother, Matt. They are from Ohio, and Matt has been making wine in California for over 20 years now. A little personal connection for you. This wine got 92 points from Wine Enthusiast, and at only $24.99 a bottle. It's a bit of a blend, 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, 4% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot. Being from Sonoma as opposed to Napa, it's a little lighter in body, hitting a little more mid-palate, but still extremely well-balanced. "The nose of this Cabernet boasts punchy aromas of roasted cherries, spiced plum compote, violets, and leather. The palate brings rich tannin, vibrant acid, and flavors of framboise, cocoa powder, purple flowers, and cracked pepper through a long and well structured finish. Great value here!" We've been enjoying Sonoma Cabernets lately, and this is certainly one of them for good reason.

Oysters 🦪

Couple of options this week, Momma Mias and because Valentine's Day is coming soon... Cupid's Choice. Momma Mias are a small-to-medium-sized oyster from Prince Edward Island. They are briny up front with a more mild finish, sometimes considered a bit sweet or fruit on the tail end. Cupid's Choice, also from Prince Edward Island, are the opposite - mild up front but briny at the finish. Come get a dozen and try 6 of each to compare.
