WINE NEWS…

New this week from The Prisoner Wine Company (Dave Phinney’s old project) is The Prisoner Cabernet. We’ve got most the others so this will be a great addition to the rack. If you missed out on “Parkers Pinot” last week we’ve got plenty more in for you!

Dan’s Wine Feature

I warned you last week that this wine was about to come in, so obviously my feature for this week is back to Jim Clendenen’s Au Bon Climat Isabelle Pinot Noir 2016. This 90+ at $54.99 is still a bargain for what I believe is one of my three favorite Pinots. Tasting notes can’t really do this wine justice, “The 2016 Pinot Noir Isabelle is essentially a barrel selection from Au Bon Climat. Racy, perfumed and beautifully layered, the 2016 caresses the palate with stunning depth. Orange peel, tobacco, blood orange, spice, star anise and new oak add shades of exoticism throughout. A wine of exquisite beauty, the Isabelle is flat-out stunning in 2016”. When you want your palate caressed and you’re out looking for a little exoticism stop in because we have you covered.

Dan’s Pick

Chemistry Pinot Gris is my pick for this week, I’m finding that I really enjoy Pinot Gris from the Willamette and this $13.99 is no exception. The 2018 vintage was stellar, producing well-balanced, elegant wine. With a glowing straw yellow color, aromatics of citrus, papaya and wet stone leap out of the glass. This Pinot Gris is crisp and persistent with a subtle richness that fills out the mid-palate. Don’t expect this wine to be an Italian knock off for a Pinot Grigio, this Willamette white will please the party and is able to compliment a wide array of foods or even better a few empty glasses.
