Feature Item

GO BACK TO AVRIL..

Domaine Juliette Avril 2016 Chateauneuf Du Pape is my feature for this week. I like Thanksgiving and I regularly choose a Chateauneuf to accompany my table. Usually comprised of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and or Cinsault makes this wine an elegant red that’s not too heavy and compliments all the items on your Thanksgiving Day table. Always a special bottle this Rhone red is one of the three top bottles of France and certainly one that deserves this special recognition, favorably priced at $29.99 allows you the opportunity to place a few to share a few of these on this years holiday table.

Dan’s Pick

If you’re going to have white wine for this year’s celebration there’s an alternative to your standard choices, Gundlach Bundschu 2018 Gewurztraminer is my pick for Thanksgiving this year. While a hint of spice can be noted this savory white wine from Sonoma will fit the bill and go great with all that’s filling your table for this holiday. Priced at $19.99 makes this wine an excellent selection for next Thursday’s festivities.

Friday/Saturday Special

It’s a Porchetta sandwich for this weekend special!!! Pork belly wrapped around an Italian seasoned pork loin, baked golden brown, thinly sliced laid atop Naan bread, slathered with truffle mayo, topped with melted provolone cheese and broccolini. This is one you don’t want to miss.

Final Thought

The third Thursday is a long awaited day for many. Fresh young wine from the Burgundy region of France makes it’s annual debut, 100% Gamay grapes picked in August, produced as wine during September and October and shipped to us for the annual release date which of course is… today!

Cheers from all of us at the Wine Merchant!
