WINE NEWS…
We have a few new wines in this week, we’re still looking for some new favorites to bring in and I’m sure with Fall approaching we’ll pick some great ones to share with you.
Dan’s Wine Feature
Molly Dooker “The Boxer” is my feature this week, I was searching out a big red that would accompany this week’s beef and this particular bottle spoke to me. It’s not a secret that I have a penchant for this varietal and Molly Dooker wines are what led me to it. Rich, big and bold and would pair perfectly with something off the barbie and we just happen to have that something. “This alluring and unashamedly bold Shiraz has hints of spiced plums, blackberry jam, and cherry all at the fore and finishes with coffee cream, licorice, and vanilla. Full-bodied with vibrant berry fruit characteristics, yet elegant with restrained tannins, resulting in a soft mouthfeel”. I’m not sure what the weather holds for us this weekend but with a great cut of beef and a bottle of The Boxer for $34.99 you can’t go wrong.
Dan’s Wine Pick
This week it’s an organically sourced Gruner Veltliner from Austria.
“A definite floral note of honeysuckle hovers on the nose alongside mossy greenness. On the palate this wine is fresh but ripe, adding a salty vein to the juicy but light body. The finish is vivid and clean”. At $12.99 this wine is perfectly priced and a great choice to pair with a grilled or baked piece of white fish. We have both down here for you this weekend, so stop in and we’ll take care of your dinner plans.
FOOD NEWS
Like anything else, you buy when the price is right. When you find Iowa PRIME Ribeye at $16.99 a pound and Corvina, Golden Sea Bass at the same price you buy. On the beef side I brought in 85 pounds this week, while more limited on the Corvina I was able to get 13 pounds. We’re looking for great deals and these are the two we’ve found for you this week. I’ve always wanted to find great foods at great prices and I think we pulled it off this week…
Food Feature of the Week
Sure the Tomahawks and The Dry Aged Strips are our stars this week but we have a great new fish for one week only. Corvina at $16.99 a pound, this Golden Sea Bass from the Western Coasts is a full bodied, firm, and delicately sweet. Usually a very expensive cut we have some this week at a very fair price.
