Is nothing predictable anymore???

I’m already struggling with time sequence because of last year and now we’re having summer temperatures and I’m relatively certain Chelsea just told me it’s Spring….

Wine News

Lots of new wines this week, plenty of new Rose’s and a few new white varietals. We received a new release that we’re pretty excited to share with you and of course keeping the racks full.

Dan’s Wine Feature

Our feature this week is a new release from Austin Hope, many of you are familiar with both his “Austin Hope” Cabernet and of course Liberty School Cabernet. Now in the store is his Liberty School 2018 Paso Roble Reserve, we were fortunate to taste this wine last week and even luckier to have it in for you this week. “Known for their dependability as a varietaly correct wine, Liberty School Reserve elevates the standard of Paso Robles Cabernet. This wine possesses a saturated garnet color that reflex the richness of the wine. On the nose, fresh vanilla bean, black currants and a dash of smoke welcome you before each sip”. Austin Hope wines has this new release priced nationally at $25.00 and up we have it at the new release price of $22.99! If you’re a fan of Austin Hope wines this new Cabernet will be a must, stop in while we have them at this great price.

Dan’s Pick

The 2020 Stoller Rosé is my pick for this week. This was a great example of a Rose’ of Pinot Noir last year and we’re excited to have it back in stock for you this year. This family estate Willamette Rose’ “is whole cluster pressed and fermented in stainless steel, and shows alluring aromatics of ripe stone fruit and strawberry. The palate displays flavors of watermelon and key lime with a mouthwatering acidity. The lingering notes of minerality on the finish will draw you back for another sip”. While Stoller Winery has it on their web site for $28.99 we have it on our shelves for $19.99 making this a great deal for this seasonal favorite.

Food News

We hope everyone enjoyed their lamb last week; we received enough positive comments to bring more! While the Salmon is still our prominent fish we’ll be regularly bringing in additional fish depending where we are in the catch season. For me with the weather like this it’s all about the grill, fresh sausages, burgers, chops and great steaks are in plentiful supply. Stop in and see what’s in the cooler to assist you in making those weekend plans.

Food Feature of the Week

Fresh wild caught Yellow Fin Tuna Loin is my feature this week, it goes great on a grill and it’s appropriately priced at $21.99 per lb.. Never frozen, never gassed this tuna will be a fantastic choice for a tasty protein this weekend. Be it prepared on the stove top or the grill this meaty fish is always tasty, a simple marinade of EVO, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic and a little fresh lemon juice and you’re ready to go. Not getting a whole lot in so give us a call and we’ll cut and reserve some for you.

Final Thought

I hope everyone had a great Easter, I’m slowly nursing my forearms back to normal after a reasonably good sunburn, was I drinking outside on Sunday?… well, of course… Either way we’re jumping into what may prove to be a warm season and the majority of our new wines reflect just that. New whites and rose’s to enjoy outside on the porch or patio and hopefully with a few good friends. While May 1 is still our target date I’m still keeping an eye on the Hancock County and Findlay numbers and with a little help from all we should be able to hit that target. And as always,

Cheers from all of us here at The Wine Merchant
