(what a coincidence everything we sell is from this earth)

Hours of Operation

Monday – Saturday

10am to 6pm

Calendar 🗓

May 13 (Saturday) - Rosé all Day in the middle of May! This annual tasting event will require reservations and will include lunch. Give us a call, then mark you calendars for this 12-2pm event!

June 3 (Saturday) - A different type of dining experience…16 spots are available, or as we count 4-4 tops for dinner. The price will be set at $75 per person and will include 4 courses! Prime Beef and a fresh seasonal vegetable will certainly be represented, along with some house-made favorites. Wines and beers will be available for purchase to accompany your dinner, and corkage fees will be waived. We’re only taking 16 people with us on this culinary journey, so give us a call and reserve your spots soon!

Store News 🏬

The kitchen needs a break for a couple weeks, so this Saturday, it’s Pizza and and some new Charcuterie products for lunch. Alright, so I have a few hundred LARGE oysters down here, and I see this as the perfect time to shuck and bake this Saturday. No, no, not shake and bake, Ricky Bobby... it’s shuck and bake, Danny Boy… Will we bring out the grill or the smoker again? You bet! Just not for this weekend. Lots of new wines and food products are in, and we’re excited as always to be sharing them with you.

Wine News🍷

Plenty of new wines this week, and some of them aren’t even Rosés! If it’s Spring, all of our preorders for Rosé show up, but we have been diligently looking for wines other than our favorite pink drink. Four out of this week's ten are new whites and reds that we’re excited to bring in. We’re focused on new whites and reds that will be great wines for outside, whether to pair with grille fare or just to enjoy the season. Keep an eye out for these wines -- we’re hoping that they’ll be a great addition to your summer patios and porches!

Dan’s Feature ⭐️

Dunn Napa Valley 2019 Cabernet was just released, so I kind of find it necessary to let you all know that it’s here and ready for the table or cellar. Since 1979, Randy and Lori Dunn have owned and operated Dunn Vineyards and continue to produce one of the most highly acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignons from Howell Mountain and the Napa Valley. We’re very happy to have this new release. While a bit pricey at $136.99, it’s going to lay down quite well for a very special event sometime in the near future. Winemaker notes describe this bottle as, "a powerful and tannic wine. In some vintages, the Napa Valley bottling is quite accessible, but not here. Swaths of tannin wrap around a core of dark fruit, gravel, spice, dried flowers, lavender and charred earth are pushed forward, with firm, chocolatey tannins that wrap it all together. The 2019 is a bruiser, that is for sure." Some of you may just want to jump in and open this bottle now, and there’s nothing wrong with that; however, a few years in the cellar is the other option that’s nice to have available.

Dan’s Pick 🥂

Bellula 2022 Rosé is this week's pick. This Southern France favorite of Syrah and Grenache has repeatedly been a crowd pleaser, and we’re happy it’s back. Provence in the South of France "is the birthplace of rosé. This wine is incredibly fresh and vibrant with notes of citrus and peaches that melt away into a wave of white flowers blowing in the Mediterranean sea breeze." As of yet, I haven’t been to the South of France, but I have consumed a fair amount of their wine, and this $12.99 bottle is no exception. There’s a reason why it’s been a favorite down here, so stop in and grab a handful because it’s going to be a great weekend.

Food News 🐄

Really happy with the reports we got back in on our Wagyu Hanger Steaks, and even more so that they came in again this week at the same price. I got a couple great deals on precut Prime and Choice Ribeyes that came in frozen but still worth every penny. Additionally I got in 8oz Coulotte Strip Steaks for $9.99; however, if you want the whole Coulotte, we have that available as well, either Wagyu or Choice. These are the cuts that I’ll be cooking up this summer, both down here and at home. Whereas the price of Prime Beef still remains much higher than previous years, the alternative is here, great tasting, pre-packaged, and for prices much less than you would expect.

Food Feature 🍋

I featured the grill last week, and I’m still all about that, but for this week's feature I’m going with Seafood, be it our Oishi Shrimp, our large domestic caught Scallops, or our fresh Salmon or Sablefish. Cook any of those items any way you choose but add a side of our new Tiberino Risotto with citrus zest. Our Tiberino products are imported from Italy and are absolutely delicious. I tried the porcini mushroom one for Easter, and everyone loved it. Simple as can be to prepare, this new one with lemon will pair unbelievably well with all of that seafood. What could be any easier tonight? Stop in and pick up your choice of seafood, a package of risotto, a half pound of green beans, and you’re set. Do we have a suggested bottle of wine to accompany? You bet, Jules Taylor 2022 Rosé will cap this meal off. This New Zealand Rosé of Merlot offers a touch of citrus which will join together beautifully with this meal. Stop in and pick up dinner, we’d love to see you.

Oyster News 🦪

White Stone Oysters from the Chesapeake Bay are the oysters for this week…"On the outside, this oyster has a deep cup and a thick polished shell. Inside, a plump oyster fills the shell. Never any grit, mud, or sand. Our oyster’s more subtle flavors will change with the seasons, as the farm is strategically located to blend salty and sweet like only the Chesapeake can. Its firm meat makes it a very approachable oyster and its layered flavors excite even the most seasoned oyster fan." These are big oysters and will be unbelievable as Rockefeller or NOLA, but personally I think they’re pretty awesome on the half shell. These are tasty little creatures, and you deserve a chance to try them. Another hundred just arrived from Duxbury, Massachusetts Standish Shore and taste luscious! "Standish Shore oysters grow to maturity in the beautifully pristine waters of Duxbury Bay — a smaller bay within Cape Cod Bay. Here, 9 to 12 foot tides flood the bay twice daily, feeding the oysters with nutrient-rich water. The result is a sweet and buttery superiority of flavor with plump meat and deep cups, making these fat little suckers perfect for slurping. Enjoy these briny delights on their own or with your favorite oyster accoutrements." Both are as fresh as can be and perfect for popping in the oven or having them fresh and salty on the half shell. Hope to see you Saturday!

Final Thoughts 💬

Happy, happy Earth day to all! Do you remember the first one 53 years ago? I sure do. All the patio furniture has arrived and some new umbrellas are trickling in, so now all we need is hospitable weather. We may have the furniture, the wines, the beer and food products, but please keep in mind, we’re still very short-staffed. We’re always glad to see you and hope you understand that service at times may be a bit slower. No matte what, we’ll keep doing our best. As always, looking forward to seeing you soon.

Cheers from all of us at The Wine Merchant!
