News 🗞
Well, we have a lot to talk about this week. First and foremost, Beaujolais Nouveau is just ONE week away. The first wine made from the current year's grape harvest, Beaujolais Nouveau is released all around the world on this day. There used to be celebrations all over the place, but they're pretty rare nowadays, and I am a holdout. Come try before you buy with Wine Flights, and to accompany, we will be serving Pissaladière, Baked Brie, Macarons, and the star of the show, my world-famous-ish Beef Bourguignon. But before that, this weekend we'll have a couple of Weekend Food Specials. Friday night we'll have Italian Sausage Pizzas, and Saturday will be Sausage, Potato & Kale Soup. Back in stock, we have German Glühweins, Breitenbach wines, Italian Olive Oil, and soon... more purses. For Thanksgiving, I have one more 18-20lb Bowman Landes Turkey, and I have ordered some Cajun options from Louisiana Crawfish Company... we will have available 1 La Boucherie Country Sausage Stuffed Duck (8lb) and 3 Shrimp & Crayfish Jambalaya Stuffed Turduckens (5lb). Give us a call if you'd like us to mark you down for any of those, or simply if you'd like anything special for your holiday table, be it oysters, ham, beef, or something else. Wine Feature ⭐️
You'll notice we've been bringing in several new Pinot Noirs lately, and that's because we are refreshing that section but also because they are great holiday wines. So it'll be no surprise that this week's feature is King Estate 2023 Artisan Series Pinot Noir. We've recently become fans of King Estate in Willamette Valley and were excited to see this Pinot Noir available. The estate was founded in 1991 with a commitment to sustainability and is now the largest certified Biodynamic vineyard in North America. They have over 1000 acres, around half for wine and the rest beehives, gardens, orchards, lavender, etc. The Artisan Series is a testament to the artistry of winemaking, and this bottle is a piece of art and worth every penny of its $29.99. "An elegant bouquet of fruit and flower aromas greets the nose, featuring appealing notes of raspberry, black cherry, pomegranate, marionberry, rose petals, cocoa and orange peel. Vibrant fruit and earthy notes of forest floor and wet stone join lively acidity, filling the palate and bringing clarity and focus to the long, complex finish." And according to Wine Enthusiast, "Pour this on a rainy day with Dizzy Gillespie on the turntable." That, I can do.

Wine Pick 🥂
Another Artisan wine... I should have picked these last week for Art Walk. Robert Hall 2021 Artisan Collection Merlot out of everyone's favorite California AVA, Paso Robles. Robert Hall's winemaker, Don Brady, was actually one of the people who helped establish Paso Robles as an AVA back in 1983. This is another certified sustainable vineyard with a broad range of microclimates, allowing them to specialize in a lot of different grapes, including Merlot, which isn't as common for Paso where most of the land is allotted to Cabs. This is a big, full red with "beautiful aromas of ripe black cherry, dried herbs, and baking spice. On the palate, the wine is smooth with elegant structure. Dominant flavors of raspberry and rich dark fruit bring the aroma to life supported by chocolatey, oaky undertones. The wine is full-bodied with fine-grained tannins on the finish." I know Merlot is not everyone's cup of tea, but we were really pleased with this one, especially for the price of $18.99.

Food Special 🐄
I snagged some Sy Ginsberg's Beef Salami for you to try out. This is damn good salami. That name might be familiar to some of you as Sy was a Detroit deli man in the 60s-80s. I'm talking Mister Deli and Pickle Barrel Deli. Seeing there was no quality meat in distribution back then, he starting curing his own meats in 1981 -- old-world, traditional, Jewish deli meats, and the company is still going strong today and still produced in Detroit. I have 2lb packages of their Beef Salami for $19.99. This will last you the holiday season. It is "Deli Done Right."

Final Thoughts 💬
We made it through the first snow of the season. Feels a little early to me, but what do I know? It did however make it feel a little more like the holiday season is truly upon on us, so... the decorations are up. I think it's always cozy in here, but now it's all the more so.
